Kids Haven in Benoni has received an R800,000 investment to improve support for vulnerable children and young people.
The funding will provide smart boards, laptops, microphones, school uniforms and shoes.
An academy will also train about 40 young people each year in practical and entrepreneurial skills to help them move into employment.
The investment will strengthen learning, digital skills and care services at the organisation.

A new learning centre for young people in Strandfontein has won the 2026 World Architecture Festival X Award in the Power and Justice category.
The 9Miles Learning Centre will provide learning rooms, quiet study areas, digital facilities, mentorship programmes and spaces for practical skills development.
The centre will also include a café for community use and a rooftop vegetable garden for teaching gardening and sustainability.
Construction is yet to begin, with the 9Miles Project seeking funding and sponsorship to bring the centre to the community.

A new Whitney Houston compilation album and Barbie doll have been released to celebrate the late singer’s legacy.
The 11-track album features some of Houston’s number-one hits, including the first streaming release of a remix of My Name Is Not Susan.
Mattel launched the Whitney Houston Barbie on Sunday, which would have been the singer’s 63rd birthday.
The doll recreates Houston’s look from the I Wanna Dance with Somebody era and is part of Mattel’s Barbie Music Series.
