In celebration of International Youth Day, observed annually on 12 August, Pick 'n Pay is reaffirming its commitment to empowering young South Africans through education, community partnerships, and youth-driven initiatives.
This aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the 2025 International Youth Day-theme: “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.”
The theme underscores the critical role young people play in shaping a better future through grassroots change.
At the forefront of this commitment is the Pick n Pay School Club one of South Africa’s largest and longest-running private-sector education platforms which supports over 2.3 million learners across 3,175 schools nationwide.

4-schools in Atteridgeville, near Tshwane, have received modern science labs to boost STEM education.
This is through a partnership between the government and private companies like SA Nuclear Energy Corporation, Huawei, Avon, and Dedisa.
The upgraded labs aim to inspire learners to explore careers in science, engineering and technology while improving hands-on learning from primary school level.
The initiative may be expanded to other provinces in future.

This Women’s Month, the City of Cape Town is shining a spotlight on the contribution of women-led businesses to the local economy.
One such business is ABC Clothing which empowers local seamstresses and tailors.
