Johannesburg hosts MMA ahead of PFL Africa Semifinals

Johannesburg hosted an exhilarating evening of mixed martial arts as eight fighters advanced to the Professional Fighters League Africa Semifinals.

Featherweight and Welterweight contenders from across the continent showcased exceptional skill and determination delivering dynamic performances in the league’s inaugural African season.

The event, marked PFL Africa’s second stop on the continent, following its sold-out debut in Cape Town in July.

A total of 32 athletes representing 15 nations will compete across four divisions, as PFL Africa embarks on a continent-wide campaign to crown its first-ever champions.

Home Affairs unveils innovative Digital ID and Passport application initiative

The Home Affairs department has partnered with Capitec and FNB bank to allow clients to apply for smart IDs and passports through their banking apps.

The Home Affairs Minister Dr Leon Schreiber on Monday announced that they are the first banks to be selected to sign up for the department’s new digital partnership model.

The model will enable Smart ID and passport services through banking apps and facilitate applications at hundreds more bank branches across the country in both urban and remote areas.
Home Affairs Department says the new and improved model will be used to facilitate applications.

Government is set to host the African Union-AIP Water Investment Summit, which aims to mobilise investments for climate-resilient water infrastructure and unlock shared prosperity across the continent.

As the first to be hosted on the African continent, the Summit aims to place Africa's development challenges around water security, at the center of the global agenda.

The gathering will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 13th of August and will be held in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the Continental Africa Water Investment Programme, and the African Union Development Agency.
