Google has donated R18 million to the University of Pretoria's African Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to boost AI research and development in Africa.
AfriDSAI is an institute at the university that brings researchers, technologists and communities together to reimagine how data science and AI can work for Africa.
This funding will support AfriDSAI's mission to position Africa as a global contributor to AI innovation.
The university says the funding marks a major step forward in Africa’s drive to become a significant contributor to the global AI research landscape.

In celebration of International Youth Day, observed annually on 12 August, Pick 'n Pay is reaffirming its commitment to empowering young South Africans through education, community partnerships, and youth-driven initiatives.
This aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the 2025 International Youth Day-theme: “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.”
The theme underscores the critical role young people play in shaping a better future through grassroots change.

The event brings together influential women across diverse sectors to have honest, empowering conversations about leadership, resilience and "fixing each other's crowns."
The movement aims to champion women’s strength and inspire the next generation to reach even greater heights.
The event will take place in Centurion on the 30th of August.
