Ford Motor Company Africa and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund have delivered 300 handmade bears to children receiving treatment at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital in Johannesburg.
Ford employees in Pretoria and Gqeberha made the bears as part of the Mandela Bear Magic campaign.
The toys are intended to give children comfort and companionship while they are away from their homes and families.
The partnership also includes two vehicles donated by Ford, which are being used to help transport patients from across the country to access treatment.

A young Kenyan technology team is using artificial intelligence and robotics to improve learning for students with hearing impairments.
Nairobi based start up ZeroBionic has developed a robotic hand that converts teachers’ speech into sign language in real time.
The technology is already being used in 78 schools, with the team also building a database of technical signs for subjects such as mathematics and biology.
The robotic hand reportedly achieves 92 percent accuracy.
