Cape Town Launches First Vehicle Licence Drive-Through
Story 2
The City of Cape Town launched its first vehicle licence renewal drive-through in Brackenfell yesterday, making it quicker and easier for motorists to renew their discs.
The facility, at the corner of Reservoir and Kruispad Roads, operates weekdays from 11:30 to 19:30 and Saturdays from 11:00 to 14:30, with plans to extend hours in the future.
The service is exclusively for licence renewals and is cashless, accepting debit and credit cards. Motorists with a renewal notice via SMS can complete the process in under five minutes.
City officials say the drive-through complements the online booking system launched earlier this year, offering residents a faster, more convenient option for essential vehicles.

An extraordinary art discovery has been made in Paris where a long-lost painting by 17th century Flemish master Peter Paul Rubens has been found.
The work, a luminous 1613 depiction of Christ on the cross, was uncovered in a private mansion and is said to be in remarkably good condition.
Art experts have authenticated the piece using X-ray imaging and pigment analysis, confirming it as an original Rubens created at the height of his career.
The painting once belonged to 19th century French artist William-Adolphe Bouguereau before being tucked away in the Paris home.
It will now go under the hammer on 30 November, with collectors worldwide expected to show strong interest in the rare Baroque masterpiece.
