Teacher Turns Students’ Drawings Into Real Hats
Teaser / Tailpiece story
First-grade teacher Ashley Lowry at Wallace Elementary School in Kelso surprised her students by turning their crayon drawings of “perfect hats” into real winter hats.
The children had created colourful designs before winter break, choosing patterns and colours they loved, not knowing the drawings would be brought to life. Local knitter Amy LaFave used the drawings to craft 23 unique hats, each matching a student’s design.
When the students returned from recess, they found the personalised hats waiting on their desks, delighting in the rainbow stripes, bold patterns, and colours they had chosen themselves.
Ashley says the kids love their hats
