Football fans in South Africa can look forward to a historic friendly as German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig visits the country for the first time.
The European club will take on Mamelodi Sundowns at the iconic Lucas Moripe Stadium on 29 May as part of their “Re Kaofela” Tour, which celebrates football bringing people together across continents.
RB Leipzig General Manager Johann Plenge said South Africa is a particularly exciting football market, adding that the country’s passion for the sport fits perfectly with the club’s attacking style of play. The match also shines a spotlight on Sundowns, one of South Africa’s most successful teams.

More than 200 students from across South Africa are competing in a national skills competition in Durban this week.
The Conference and Career Festival 2026 is underway at the Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre and exhibition centre, bringing together 213 students competing in 27 technical skill areas.
The event is hosted by the Department of Higher Education and Training and highlights practical expertise in fields ranging from engineering and construction to information technology.
Top performers will earn the opportunity to represent South Africa at the international competition set to take place in Shanghai in September.

The Mpumalanga Department of Education has officially opened Silulu Secondary School in KaMaqhekeza, a modern campus designed to give learners access to quality education.
The school features 28 classrooms, a science lab, computer centre, library, multi-purpose hall, and sports facilities, along with sanitation units, accessible ramps, and secure infrastructure.
Mpumalanga MEC for Education Linda Masina said the school provides a safe and fully equipped environment where young people can learn, dream, and reach their full potential.
