Joburg named SA’s best city to raise a family in 2026 study

Johannesburg has been named the top South African city for raising a family in the global “50 Best Cities in the World to Raise a Family” study for 2026.
Families in the city can enjoy hundreds of activities for kids, from museums and science centres to local parks and weekend adventures.
Cape Town and Durban also made the top 50, offering beaches, hiking trails and outdoor adventures for families.
The ranking shows that growing up in Johannesburg means having access to both city life and nature, making family life full of learning and adventure.

Golden Gloves to support young SA boxers

Golden Gloves is launching a new foundation to train, mentor, and support young South African boxers.
Starting this year, the programme will identify promising athletes and provide coaching, mentorship, education and medical support to help them move from grassroots boxing into professional careers.
The foundation will also offer training, guidance, and competition opportunities for current and retired boxers, and expand support to fighters across Africa.
Golden Gloves says the foundation will turn talent into professional careers and provide athletes with tools to succeed inside and outside the ring.

36 cyclists ride 1,057km to raise money for children’s surgeries
Story 3
36-riders from the Grandads Army Memorial Ride cycled 1,057km from the Eastern Cape to Cape Town to raise money for the Eyabantwa Trust, which funds life-changing surgeries for children.
The teams rode in a relay over four days, stopping in towns such as Cradock, Willowmore, Montagu and Hermanus, and finished together at the Cape Town Cycle Tour in Gordons Bay.
During the ride, they dealt with mechanical problems, were escorted by traffic and fire officials, and successfully raised R800,000 to help pay for the children’s surgeries.

All Blacks to tour SA with historic USA match
