Arabella Molefi named South Africa's top English olympiad

A Grade 12 learner from Future Nation Schools in Fleurhof has been crowned South Africa’s top performer in the 2026 English Olympiad.
Arabella Molefi secured the top national position
and received a Diamond Award, placing her as the country's highest achiever in the Olympiad.
Her performance reflects outstanding language proficiency, critical thinking and academic excellence.
The English Olympiad challenges learners to apply advanced language, comprehension and analytical skills, recognising those who demonstrate exceptional command of English and higher-order thinking.
Molefi is joined by two other matric learners from the school who secured outstanding national rankings in one of the most prestigious academic language competitions in the country.

Taekwondo instructor earns global recognition

A veteran taekwondo instructor from Secunda has earned international recognition after being named one of three finalists for the American Taekwondo Association's International Instructor of the Year Award.
JP Vorster, of the Victory Taekwondo Family Centre, was announced as a finalist during a live broadcast from Arkansas in the United States, placing Vorster among the top instructors to be recognised by the organisation for their contribution to the growth and development of taekwondo.
The honour comes as Vorster celebrates 30 years in the sport and prepares to represent South Africa at the ATA World Championships in Phoenix in Arizona.

The Recording Industry of South Africa has officially unveiled the nominees for the 32nd South African Music Awards across 25 categories.
This year's awards, themed the "Homecoming Edition" will return to their roots in the North West Province, with the main ceremony set to take place at the iconic Sun City Superbowl in the month of August.
Risa says Nominees for the Top Five categories will be revealed in the coming weeks.
The categories include: Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Female Artist of the Year.
