City of Johannesburg hosts #PauseAndBreathe Campaign

The City of Johannesburg, in collaboration with the pioneering Breathe Cities initiative, hosted the #PauseAndBreathe campaign across the city, with a flagship Hike for the Environment at Kloofendal Nature Reserve in Roodepoort.
Among the 200 attendees were representatives from Pikitup; student volunteers from the University of Johannesburg, the South African Institute of International Affairs air quality youth ambassadors, ward councillors and members of the Johannesburg Junior Council.
Johannesburg MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services Jack Sekwaila, says the
day is about accountability and facing the environmental challenges head-on, while standing together to come up with solutions that are not only sustainable, but are just, inclusive and empowering.

The best restaurants from in and around Knysna in the Western Cape went head-to-head during the Oyster Cooking competition at the 42nd annual Knysna Oyster Festival, as they vied for the title of Best Dressed Oyster, serving up their most creative creations to guests.
Originally initiated in 1983 and known as the Knysna Winter Festival, the event helps to boost the town’s revenue during its off season, attracting around 70 000 visitors during its 10-day run.
The spin-offs from the event positively impact the local economy and brings relief to hundreds of small businesses.

Lesotho's Rural WASH Project to advance universal water acces

Lesotho’s Prime Minister, Sam Matekane, recently conducted a site visit to the Metsi a Lesotho Rural WASH Project — a landmark initiative aimed at addressing the pressing water and sanitation needs of rural communities across the country.
The project is a collaborative effort between the Government of Lesotho, UNICEF and the European Union, and forms part of the national strategy to enhance access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene services.
Matekane underscored the importance of equitable water access for all Basotho citizens, regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic status.
The water Project is set to benefit approximately 250 communities located in some of the most remote and hard-to-reach areas of Lesotho over the next 5 years.
