Learners at Realogile Secondary School in Alexandra have received sports equipment and a large floor chess set from the South African Police Service.
Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni says the new chess programme will help keep learners engaged, promote discipline and critical thinking, and encourage positive choices.
School leaders have welcomed the donation, saying the added support will help create a safer and more constructive learning environment.

South Africa’s agricultural exports reached a record US $15.1 billion in 2025, rising 10 % from 2024, despite global trade uncertainty and shifting policies. Growth was driven by higher export volumes and improved international prices across products like fruit, wine, grains and nuts. While exports to some markets slowed, strong demand from Africa, Asia and Europe helped offset the decline.

The City of Johannesburg has launched a high-impact service delivery programme in Randburg. Region B director Sello Jonathan Lemao says the operation is now fully underway after earlier delays.
The programme brings together city departments including Pikitup, Johannesburg Water, City Power, and Metro Police to clean streets, fix infrastructure faults, and enforce local rules. Stand-in Ward 102 councillor Bea Campbell-Cloete praised the workers, saying restoring pride in the area will take consistent effort.
Teams will continue work throughout the week, with police support helping to keep the area safe and orderly, bringing much-needed relief to the community.
