2025 SPAR National Netball Championships
Story 1
Johannesburg hosted the 2025 SPAR National Netball Championships in Boksburg from early December as part of the national “16 Days of Activism.”
More than 100 teams competed under the guidance of SPAR Group and Netball South Africa.
The tournament combined sport with social campaigns: organisers ran daily awareness drives on GBV and period poverty, and also facilitated youth dialogues and on-site content creation.
On court, Johannesburg’s teams won both senior and Under-21 titles — the senior side edged Cape Town 52–51 in the final; the Under-21 team beat Dr Kenneth Kaunda 44–33.

Castle of Good Hope
Story 2
The Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town has opened the Blue Era Permanent Exhibition, a collection of 12 paintings created and sponsored by Dr Willa Boezak to document Nelson Mandela’s life and work.
The installation marks ongoing efforts to transform the Castle into a space that represents all South African heritages.
The exhibition records Mandela’s activism, leadership and impact through visual archives rather than commentary.
Organisers want to draw visitors into the historical record and ensure that Mandela’s message of peace, equality, and nation building continues to inspire future generations.
