Hockey Teams Receive R3m World Cup Funding

South Africa’s men’s and women’s hockey teams will receive R3 million in government funding for the 2026 World Cup.
Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie has approved the funding to cover participation costs, including flights, accommodation, visas and tournament fees.
The World Cup will be held in Belgium and the Netherlands from 14 to 30 August.
The funding follows a shortfall that left players facing significant costs to represent South Africa.

Huawei South Africa has opened applications for its 2026 Women in Tech Digital Skills Training Programme.
The three-day programme will take place in Johannesburg from 26 to 28 August.
Women entrepreneurs will receive training in artificial intelligence and cloud computing as well as practical business and leadership skills.
Participants who complete the programme will receive certificates.

One hundred women in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal will receive agricultural training through a programme run by Islamic Relief.
The programme is being delivered with Pelican Park High School and James Nxumalo Agricultural High School.
