Pinnacle Ridge View collects record 5 500 litres of milk for orphaned rhinos

Pinnacle Ridge View School in Roodepoort has collected a record 5 500 litres of long-life, fat-free milk for orphaned baby rhinos.
The annual Rhino Drive supports Rhino Connect NPC, which cares for rhinos orphaned by poaching.
The school started the campaign in 2023, collecting 1 436 litres in its first year, with donations growing each year.
This year, five milk-dependent rhino calves needed support, while cash donations will help cover veterinary and medical costs.

SAPS opens more doors for women in vehicle mechanics

The South African Police Service in Limpopo is creating more opportunities for women in vehicle mechanics, with plans to recruit additional female artisans.
There are currently 11 women working as vehicle mechanics across seven SAPS workshops in the province, repairing and maintaining police vehicles.
SAPS Limpopo spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba says the service will continue expanding the number of female artisans in its mechanical teams.

The programme encourages regular exercise while promoting healthier lifestyles and overall wellbeing.
Instructors Bongani Bila and Keketso Masindi led the session, giving residents an opportunity to stay active and exercise together.

Tumi Ramokgopa wins two silver medals at World U20 Championships

South African hurdler Tumi Ramokgopa has won silver in both the 100m and 400m hurdles at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
She set a personal best of 55.88 seconds in the 400m hurdles, just a day after finishing second in the 100m hurdles.
Her two medals contributed to South Africa’s eight-medal haul, its biggest at the championships since 2021.
South Africa also won silver in the men’s 4x400m relay, while Matodzi Ndou claimed bronze in the men’s 400m hurdles.
