Dunvegan Primary and Ricoh support Edenvale SHINE Centre

Dunvegan Primary School and Ricoh South Africa have donated learning supplies, desks and food to the SHINE Education Centre in Edenvale.
The support will help the volunteer run centre provide Saturday classes in maths, English, Afrikaans and Life Skills to children from Grades Four to Nine.
Dunvegan’s Grade Five learners collected stationery and lunch snacks, while Ricoh donated desks and provided lunch for the children and volunteers.

SAPS opens more doors for women in vehicle mechanics

The South African Police Service in Limpopo is creating more opportunities for women in vehicle mechanics, with plans to recruit additional female artisans.
There are currently 11 women working as vehicle mechanics across seven SAPS workshops in the province, repairing and maintaining police vehicles.
SAPS Limpopo spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba says the service will continue expanding the number of female artisans in its mechanical teams.

South Africa to host Africa’s top BMX riders

South Africa will welcome Africa’s top BMX racing riders when the 2026 African Continental Championships take place in Gauteng.
The championships will be held on November 29 at Cradle BMX Club in Kromdraai, Krugersdorp, with riders from across the continent competing for African championship titles.
Competitors will range from six year olds to elite international riders, while local fans will get the chance to support Team South Africa on home soil.

Leonardo DiCaprio and conservation group Re:wild have launched a 200 million dollar project to help save 100 species facing imminent extinction.
The Phoenix Species Project will fund conservation efforts for five years across 30 countries, supporting animals, plants and other threatened species.
The initiative aims to move beyond simply preventing decline and help species recover and rebuild their populations.
