The University of Fort Hare in the Eastern Cape has unveiled its purpose-built Early Childhood Care and Education centre that will provide practical training and assessment for Early Childhood Development student teachers.

The centre forms part of the university's efforts to turn around the skills deficiency challenge in this sphere.

The facility enables future educators to be trained in a live teaching environment, supported by one-way viewing booths that allow lecturers and students to observe real-time classroom interactions.

The Grow SA Learnership Programme, in partnership with the V&A Waterfront, has officially opened applications for its 2025 intake.

The program focuses on supporting individuals involved in community gardening and small green businesses in Cape Town and Stellenbosch.

The 6-month learnership offers hands-on training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to help participants grow their skills and impact

The programme is six months long, structured to allow participants to continue running their own projects while attending sessions no more than two days a week. Training takes place across more than 15 venues in Cape Town and surrounding farming areas.

SA Canoeist claims the country’s first medal at the World Games in China

Canoeist Hamish Lovemore has bagged South Africa’s first medal at the World Games in Chengdu in China.

The Olympian was the fastest qualifier heading into the final of the men’s short-distance K1 canoeing.
This year’s edition of The World Games is being held from the 7th to the17th of August with 110 countries competing at the Games totalling around 5,000 athletes.

Team South Africa is represented by a squad of 20 athletes across eight sports.
