Sandton based non profit organisation Elevate Her Africa has launched a campaign to collect 36 000 sanitary packs for 2 000 women and girls across local communities for a year.
The organisation is calling on businesses, schools, churches and individuals to support the campaign through donations and collection drives.
The goal is to ensure women and girls have access to menstrual products without having to rely on alternatives such as toilet paper.

The City of Cape Town’s Safety and Security Directorate has launched a pilot project to help young boys in Manenberg turn away from gangs and violence.
The project saw 18 boys aged between 10 and 18 attend a camp at the Chrysalis Academy, where they received mentorship and took part in physical and self development activities.
The City says it will assess the programme’s findings to determine the next steps.

Dainfern residents have donated four handcrafted mobile libraries to the Wot-If? Trust in Diepsloot to encourage children to read.
The lockable bookcases were made by members of the Dainfern Community Workshop, which provides training in woodworking and other DIY skills.
The libraries were delivered in partnership with Bags of Love and will be filled with 300 books donated by Dainfern residents.
The Wot-If? Trust supports women and young people through education and entrepreneurship.
