Nal’ibali has received the Significant Contribution to Literacy Award from the Literacy Association of South Africa.
The award was presented on Sunday at the 21st Annual LITASA Conference in Johannesburg.
Nal’ibali was recognised for promoting reading and storytelling among children and families, particularly in South Africa’s different languages.
The organisation says the recognition strengthens its commitment to giving more children access to books and opportunities to develop a lifelong love of reading.

Khayelitsha District Hospital has opened a new R87.41 million Acute Psychiatric Unit for patients experiencing acute mental health conditions.
The facility has naturally lit wards, secure courtyards and patient areas designed to provide greater safety, privacy and support during treatment.
It is the second of three new psychiatric units being opened in the Western Cape this year, increasing the province’s capacity to provide specialised mental healthcare.
The construction project also created jobs and opportunities for local small businesses.

Students Turn PR Assignment Into Food Drive For Children

Six Public Relations students from Boston Media House have raised R6,500 and collected more than 200 cans of food for Hearts of Hope in Wendywood.
The two-month Hearts2Hope campaign was created as part of their PR assignment and included campus activations, social media campaigns and a raffle.
Hearts of Hope provides a safe home for 52 orphaned and vulnerable children.
The students also received support from businesses that donated food, prizes and other items to the campaign.
