Teen environmentalists set Guinness World Record
Teaser / Tailpiece story
A group of teenage environmentalists have set a guiness world record by recycling over 22000 racket balls and pickleballs in 24 hours.
Roughly 500 million tennis and pickleballs are sold each year in the United States, while their material can take over 400 years to decompose and only a small fraction gets recycled.
The group has been working with local governments to advocate for greater sports-ball recycling infrastructure and policies.
The balls collected are expected to be recycled and turned into new balls and other sustainable materials.
