Hungarian author Laszlo Krasznahorkai wins 2025 Nobel Prize for Literature

Hungarian novelist Laszlo Krasznahorkai has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize for Literature.
The Swedish Academy honoured him for his visionary body of work that explores themes of dystopia, resilience, and the power of art. Best known for his 1985 debut Satantango, Krasznahorkai’s complex and lyrical style has earned him acclaim as one of Central Europe’s great literary voices.
The 71-year-old author joins Imre Kertész as the second Hungarian to receive the prize.
The award will be presented in Stockholm on 10 December, celebrating a career defined by artistic depth and philosophical insight.
