A new travel series, Hidden Gems South Africa, is set to showcase some of South Africa’s most remarkable yet lesser-known destinations. Produced by BBC the show follows six travel influencers as they explore untouched luxury locations across the country. Over five episodes, the “gem-fluencers” and their partners visit ten unique destinations — from the lush landscapes of Skukuza to the mountains of Winterton and the desert scenery of the Cederberg. Each location highlights a different theme, revealing bucket-list-worthy experiences that are often overlooked by mainstream tourism. The series premieres on BBC Lifestyle, with viewers also able to vote weekly for their favourite hidden gem.

SA Learners Shine at Global Debating Championships

South Africa’s young public speakers competed with the very best in the world at the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships in Bristol, England. The prestigious global competition, which has been running since 1988, brought together some of the world’s top high school speakers to compete across five categories: debate, impromptu speaking, interpretive reading, persuasive speaking and after-dinner speaking. Speaking after the event, South African team manager and accompanying teacher Shaun McCabe praised the standard shown by the country’s 15-member contingent. This featured learners from several schools across South Africa.
