Donation boosts care for children in Johannesburg oncology ward
Story 1
The Winnie Mabaso Foundation has donated five cardiac monitors and trolleys to a children’s oncology ward in Johannesburg to strengthen care for young cancer patients. The equipment will help medical staff track vital signs more accurately and improve the movement of supplies within the ward.
The donation is expected to support nurses and doctors in responding more quickly to changes in patients’ conditions while improving overall monitoring in the unit.
The initiative has been welcomed by organisations working in the ward, who say it will enhance the level of care provided to children undergoing treatment.

A new supported housing village called Harriet Gardens has opened in South Lanarkshire in western Scotland, providing 15 single unit homes for people experiencing homelessness.
The project is run by the charity Social Bite in partnership with The Salvation Army and aims to provide residents with stability, independence and structured support.

The village includes shared facilities such as a gym, kitchen and community spaces, with on site support to help residents rebuild their lives and develop daily living skills.
Organisers say the model moves away from traditional hostel style accommodation to create a more supportive environment for long term recovery and reintegration.
