UK Performer Spins Her Way into SA Children’s Hearts
Story 1
International hula-hooping sensation Sophia Seidl visited Mimosa School in Auckland Park, leaving learners amazed with her high-energy circus performance.
Seidl, visiting from the UK, dazzled children by spinning multiple hoops at once and sharing her journey from a seven-year-old beginner to a world-record-holding performer. She holds several hoop-split world records, spinning up to seven hoops on different parts of her body without them touching.
The visit combined skill, discipline, and artistry, inspiring learners with both performance and determination. Seidl says seeing the children’s excitement was the highlight of her trip.

Knight Preparatory Learners Give Back to Place a Pup
Story 3
Learners from Knight Preparatory School collected dog and cat food to donate to Place a Pup, a non-profit in Roodepoort that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes abandoned and neglected animals.
The initiative was led by the Grade 7 leadership group, Knights of Kindness. The learners gathered donations from their families and visited the NPO to see the facility, play with the puppies, and hand over the supplies.
Teacher Kirsten Groves says the project helps young people develop a habit of giving back while supporting organisations that rely on public generosity to continue their work.

The 2026 Moshoeshoe Walk has wrapped up in Lesotho. The 116-kilometre event, held over three days, drew participants from across the SADC region and beyond, retracing the route of the nation’s founder, Moshoeshoe I.
Heavy rains forced organisers to cancel the second day as streams and rivers became unsafe, but hikers pushed on and completed the challenge. The walk celebrates Basotho heritage, resilience and unity while bringing together local and international participants.
At the finish, King Letsie III congratulated the participants and joined in the celebrations, marking the end of a memorable and unifying event.
