Germiston leads the fight against plastic pollution

The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Deon George visited Germiston’s
Extrupet recycling facility, where he launched South Africa’s first Coastal Climate Change Adaptation Plan, which is aimed at tackling pollution and climate threats.
The visit was aligned with the 2025 World Environment Day, commemorated annually on the 5th of June.
This year’s theme, ‘#BeatPlasticPollution’, served as a global call to action, urging governments, cities, organisations, and industries to invest in and implement sustainable solutions to end plastic pollution.
The Extrupet facility, is the leading plastic recycler on the African continent and the largest producer of food-grade recycled PET.

South Africa to connect 23 million people to the Internet

Malatsi was addressing the G-20 member states meeting in Polokwane, Limpopo yesterday.
He says the endless supply of information that the internet offers will help to pave the way for a more inclusive information society and greater access to government services which is essential to a thriving economy.
