Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Department Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts has called on South Africans to plant one million trees on Heritage Day, on September 24, in a bid to green the nation.
This as the department has launched the One Million Trees campaign a nationwide initiative aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting a sustainable future for all
The campaign is part of the National Greening Programme, which seeks to plant 10 million trees across South Africa over the next 5 years with a focus on fruit and indigenous trees.
Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts has emphasized the importance of collective action citing the country's vulnerability to environmental disasters such as fires, heatwaves, and floods.

Starlink Granted licence To Operate In India

Satellite internet provider Starlink has recently been granted a licence to operate in India.
Starlink intends to include a free one-month trial with every device purchase as part of its launch strategy giving users the opportunity to experience the service before committing to monthly subscriptions.
Starlink has launched more than 6,000 satellites so far and aims to expand its network to 42,000 satellites by 2027.
