This as the department has launched the One Million Trees campaign a nationwide initiative aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting a sustainable future for all
The campaign is part of the National Greening Programme, which seeks to plant 10 million trees across South Africa over the next 5 years with a focus on fruit and indigenous trees.
Swarts has emphasized the importance of collective action citing the country's vulnerability to environmental disasters such as fires, heatwaves, and floods.
