UPYC wins big at Prague choral festival

The University of Pretoria Youth Choir competed at the Prague Advent and Christmas Choral Festival, winning gold in the Mixed Youth Choir category and a special jury prize for Vocal Culture.
They also earned the festival’s Absolute Winner title.
Their European tour included performances in Prague and a visit to the South African embassy in Berlin.
The choir, led by Lhente Mari Pitout, proudly represented South Africa, sharing the country's music with the world.

50 SA firefighters compete in Race To The Top

Fifty South African firefighters competed in the Race To The Top at The Leonardo in Sandton on Saturday, carrying over 20 kg of equipment including bunker suits, helmets, and boots.
Netcare provided medical support, and Mines Rescue Services supplied breathing apparatus.
The Sandton Times reports that Mani Gouws recorded the fastest male time at 13:36, while Maithamako Moswete finished fastest among women at 19:30.
The event, organised by Charnaud to mark its 50th anniversary, tested endurance and brought together members of the firefighting community.

Soweto hosted its first-ever Soweto100, a 100 km cycling event celebrating kasi culture and community.
Over the weekend more than 220 cyclists rode through the township's streets.
