New Pierre Road bridge opens to motorists

The newly built Pierre Road bridge in Ruimsig officially reopened to motorists on the 31st of July, restoring a vital link between communities, bringing relief to thousands of daily road users.

The R23 million project replaced the ageing, flood-damaged culvert between Alec and Short streets with a larger and stronger bridge designed to improve water flow, reduce flooding and provide safer access for motorists. The road was officially reopened during a ribbon-cutting ceremony that was hosted by the City of Johannesburg

The project is one of JRA’S several key interventions to rejuvenate ageing infrastructure and provide a safe, reliable and accessible road network for communities in the City of Johannesburg.

The South African Football Association has officially bid farewell to Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos following his five-year tenure with the national team.

The Belgian coach leaves on a high note after the team reached the World Cup knockouts for the first time at this year's FIFA World Cup.

Broos also managed to lead Bafana to two Afcon qualifications, including a bronze-medal finish at the Ivory Coast Competition in 2023.
