South African referees selected for the upcoming FIFA World Cup

South African referees Abongile Tom and Zakhele Siwela have been selected to officiate at the FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Tom will take charge of matches at his first senior World Cup, while Siwela will serve as an assistant referee at his third tournament.
They are among 52 referees, 88 assistant referees, and 30 VAR officials chosen across FIFA’s six confederations.
The appointments mark South African representation in the officiating team at the global tournament.
