East Rand Palliative Care has opened a new upmarket charity shop at the Summerfields Shopping Centre in Atlasville, expanding its network of thrift stores used to fund its care services.
The organisation says the new store has been designed to feel more like a boutique, offering quality pre-loved items in a modern, stylish setting, as part of a wider effort to attract more shoppers and boost fundraising.
The charity, which provides home-based palliative care, relies on donations and shop sales to support patients living with serious illness, as well as their families.
Management says the new approach is aimed at strengthening sustainability while continuing to deliver care across the East Rand.

UKZN golf fundraiser to open doors for township learners and students

The University of KwaZulu-Natal and Care Enough TDS will host a golf day fundraiser at Umhlali Country Club on 23 April to support township learners and financially struggling students.
The event, themed Driving Opportunity, Changing Futures, aims to raise funds to expand access to higher education and support youth development programmes in disadvantaged communities.
More than 150 learners and several UKZN students are expected to benefit from the initiative, which will also bring together alumni and corporate partners for networking and engagement. ‘
