The University of Johannesburg Choir will host an international concert series in May 2026, bringing together choirs from France, Switzerland and the United States for performances across four venues in Johannesburg.
The series runs from 9 to 23 May and will feature visiting choirs alongside the UJ Choir in a programme focused on cultural exchange and different choral traditions.
Organisers say each performance will offer a unique musical experience shaped by the different countries and styles represented.

SA spelling champions head to world stage in China

South Africa’s top young spellers are heading to China after winning the overall team title at the 8th African Spelling Bee in Harare.
The team recently presented the trophy to Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube as they prepare for the World Spelling Bee Championships in Shanghai in July.
The achievement is another boost for literacy efforts in schools, with learners showing strong language skills on the continental and now global stage.
Minister Gwarube says this speaks to the work that has to improve literacy.

The Glass Recycling Company recently hosted a training bootcamp at the Isivivana Centre, bringing together collectors and small recycling businesses from the area.
