Sandton SPCA Launches 2027 Charity Calendar

The Sandton SPCA has launched its 2027 calendar to raise funds for animal welfare and expand its outreach work.
The calendar was unveiled at a fashion show at Bryanston Country Club on August 27, featuring rescued animals and volunteers.
The organisation raised R560,000 from last year’s calendar and is targeting R750,000 this year.
The SPCA also plans to carry out 4,000 free pet sterilisations in communities to reduce the number of unwanted animals.

Specialists conducted the screenings during the national Special Olympics over the weekend.

Cape Town Scouts Pack 10,152 Meals

More than 60 Scouts, leaders, parents and supporters in Cape Town packed 10,152 meals for children in need last week.
Volunteers from four Table Bay Scout groups measured ingredients, sealed meal packs, labelled them and prepared the boxes for distribution through Rise Against Hunger Africa.
The team completed the work in one hour and 15 minutes, exceeding its target of 9,000 meals by 1,152.
The meals are expected to provide enough food for 44 children every school day for an entire academic year.
