Alberton Lions Support New Mothers

Thirty new mothers at South Rand Hospital were celebrated during a breastfeeding event aimed at encouraging and supporting women as they begin their motherhood journeys.
The event, held under the theme Strengthen what works, focused on promoting breastfeeding and creating a supportive environment for the mothers.
Each mother received a goodie bag donated by the Alberton Lions, while six mothers also received teddy bears through a lucky draw.
The Lions have also been donating mommy care bags to new mothers at the hospital twice a month, offering practical support during the early stages of motherhood.

Learners at Winston Park Junior Primary in Hillcrest, KwaZulu Natal, have helped collect essential supplies for babies at New Life Baby House, a safe haven for abandoned and vulnerable children.
After learning about the work of the baby home, the learners shared what they had learnt with their families, inspiring the wider school community to get involved.
The donation included nappies, wipes, lotions, soaps and baby food, which were handed over to the founders of New Life Baby House.
The initiative shows how young learners can inspire their families and communities to support vulnerable children.

Dobsonville charity drive brings hope to vulnerable residents

Dorcas Women in Action, the Grand Templers and the Methodist Church joined forces in Dobsonville on August 27 for a prayer session and charity drive supporting vulnerable community members.
Residents received a warm meal and pre-loved clothing, while also coming together for prayer, encouragement and support.
The organisations hope to restore dignity and assist people facing challenges such as unemployment and financial hardship.

A deli manager in New York City is turning academic achievement into a reason for students to celebrate.
Wail Alselwi, manager of Zack’s Finest Deli and Grocery on Staten Island, rewards learners who achieve good grades or improve their results through his Grades for Grabs initiative.
Students can receive cash, snacks, groceries and other items, with those achieving an average of 90 percent or higher receiving 100 dollars and a T shirt.
The initiative began in 2023 and has attracted students from across the United States, with more than 500 thousand dollars raised through a GoFundMe campaign to support the programme.
