Parktown Girls’ School Raises Funds for Infrastructure

Parktown High School for Girls has raised funds through its annual golf day at the Wanderers Golf Club in Johannesburg.
The 18th edition brought together parents, sponsors and golfers, with organisers setting a fundraising target of 100 thousand rand.
The money raised will go towards upgrading the school’s infrastructure and creating a better learning environment for its pupils.
The event also supports the Parktown Girls Legacy Fund, which helps girls who may otherwise not be able to access the school’s education.

South African athlete Daniel Grove has secured a silver medal at the UIPM 2026 Under 19 World Championships in Madrid, finishing as the second best athlete in the world in his age group.
The 19 year old from the Hemel en Aarde Valley built his strong performance through fencing, the obstacle course and swimming before pushing through the final laser run.
Grove’s success follows years of training, including time spent practising on his grandfather’s obstacle course in the valley.

Olympia Park Becomes Gauteng’s 41st School of Specialisation

Olympia Park in Springs has officially become Gauteng’s 41st School of Specialisation, expanding its focus on vocational and occupational training.
The school, which dates back to 1958, now offers learners practical training in fields including motor mechanics, plumbing, welding, agriculture, food production, sewing, hairdressing and beauty.
Learners can also complete up to six SETA accredited courses, while partnerships with businesses and training institutions provide workplace experience and additional opportunities.
The school is also expanding into aviation related technical training, with learners set to gain exposure to aircraft maintenance and engineering.
