Olympia Park Becomes Gauteng’s 41st School of Specialisation

Olympia Park in Springs has officially become Gauteng’s 41st School of Specialisation, expanding its focus on vocational and occupational training.
The school, which dates back to 1958, now offers learners practical training in fields including motor mechanics, plumbing, welding, agriculture, food production, sewing, hairdressing and beauty.
Learners can also complete up to six SETA accredited courses, while partnerships with businesses and training institutions provide workplace experience and additional opportunities.
The school is also expanding into aviation related technical training, with learners set to gain exposure to aircraft maintenance and engineering.

The opening of a new mathematics and science school in KwaNobuhle, Kariega, is giving learners greater access to specialised education in the Eastern Cape.
The LEAP 9 school was built through a partnership between Volkswagen South Africa and the LEAP Institute, as part of Volkswagen’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
The school is the first of its kind in the Eastern Cape and will provide learners with opportunities to develop their skills in mathematics and science.
Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube says partnerships with the private sector are critical as government works to address a R120 billion education infrastructure backlog

New School Shoes Bring Hope to Soweto Learners

The Masechaba Foundation of Hope has brought smiles to learners at Khulanolwazi Primary School in Braamfischerville, Soweto, through a school shoes donation drive.
The initiative provided new shoes to learners from vulnerable and disadvantaged families, including children who had been attending school in worn-out shoes or sneakers.
The donation aims to give learners greater comfort, confidence and dignity while supporting them in their education.
