Sandton SPCA Launches 2027 Animal Calendar

The Sandton SPCA has launched its 2027 calendar to raise funds for animal welfare and expand its outreach work.
The calendar was unveiled at a fashion show at Bryanston Country Club on August 27, featuring rescued animals and volunteers.
The organisation raised R560,000 from last year’s calendar and is targeting R750,000 this year.
The SPCA also plans to carry out 4,000 free pet sterilisations in communities to reduce the number of unwanted animals.

HACC Film Festival Returns To Cape Town

The Hollywood African Cinema Connection will return to Cape Town from 30 October to 2 November for its third film festival.
The festival will screen African and Middle Eastern films at venues including the V&A Waterfront and Robben Island Museum.
The festival, themed “Our Land, Our Heritage”, will include several films making their African premieres.
It will bring filmmakers, industry professionals and audiences together through film screenings and discussions.

Curro Delft Players Make Rugby History

Curro Delft rugby players Inga Jim and Lethokuhle Madwayi have been selected for South Africa’s first SA Schools Under-18 Girls rugby teams.
Inga has also been named captain of the inaugural side, while Lethokuhle will play at prop.
The two players will join 50 other selected players in two 26-player squads that will face each other at Grey High School.
The teams mark the first time SA Schools has fielded girls’ rugby sides at this level.
