Discovery Green secures 10-Year power purchase agreement with Southern Sun

Discovery Green has announced the signing of a 10-year power purchase agreement with South Africa’s leading hospitality group, Southern Sun.

The agreement will see more than 90% of Southern Sun’s consumption across seven flagship sites powered by clean, renewable energy wheeled from some of the country's largest wind and solar farms through the national grid.

Under the agreement, Discovery Green will supply renewable energy to Southern Sun’s Drakensberg Sun, Garden Court Morningside, Southern Sun Katherine Street and Southern Sun Sandton among others.

Report projects R91.4 billion contribution from SA’s digital platform economy by 2035

A new report by Naspers and the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection estimates that South Africa’s digital platform economy, could contribute R91.4 billion to the economy by 2035.

Naspers CEO Phuthi Mahanyele-Dabengwa underscored the sector’s transformative potential, noting that its contribution to GDP is projected to grow from 0.02% in 2022 to 1.38% in 2035.

Cape Town hands over 42 homes in R140 million Bonteheuwel Project

The project will deliver 273 state-subsidised homes by June 2026.
The project is just one of several housing projects that are currently under way across the metro, where the city is accelerating delivery for many families.

The Human Settlements Directorate shared the special day with beneficiaries and their families.
