Johannesburg’s recruitment leader Mary Khutlane will be representing the Gauteng province in the 2026 Woman of Stature Awards, joining the ranks of women who have been recognised nationally for their resilience, vision and impact.

Now in its 11th year the Awards has grown into one of the country’s most respected recognition platforms for women in business, leadership, and community development.

Khutlane says the nomination is more than a personal recognition and says she intends to use the platform for broader social impact.

The Eastern Cape government has congratulated the new Miss South Africa, Qhawekazi Mazaleni.
The 24-year-old, who was born in Falakahla village in Dutywa and raised in East London, was crowned Miss South Africa at a prestigious ceremony held at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday.

Meanwhile another Eastern Cape beauty, Melissa Nayimuli, has been crowned the new Miss Universe SA and will represent the country in Thailand.

The City of Cape Town unveils two new MyCiTi depots

The City of Cape Town has unveiled two new MyCiti bus depots, marking a major step in expanding the city's public transport network.

The depots which are located between Khayelitsha and Mitchell’s Plain are designed to improve travel routes and make commuting easier for residents in the metro's southeast.

Each depot is equipped with mechanical workshops, refuelling facilities and underground infrastructure for charging electric buses.

The City of Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the project forms part of a broader plan to extend the MyCiti service to Wynberg and Claremont.

Cape Town is officially the world’s third happiest city, according to theTimeOut magazine's global survey.

The survey is part of the magazine’s annual index that seeks to determine the best city in the world, based on metrics such as culture, nightlife, food, walkability, affordability and quality of life.

The list was topped by the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, followed by Medellin in Colombia.
Cape Town was followed by Mexico City and Mumbai in fourth and fifth place.
