Jozi My Jozi is helping bring Johannesburg’s inner city back to life through coordinated infrastructure and safety upgrades. CEO Innocent Mabusela says the organisation has already transformed parts of the Ellis Park precinct, installing more than 300 solar streetlights, while also repairing roads and improving walkways.The initiative works with around 140 partners across business, civil society and education to roll out projects such as public space upgrades, clean-ups and better emergency response. Mabusela says the focus is on visible action that restores functionality and pride in the city.

At just 17, Liberty Sibanyoni from Greenside High School is quickly emerging as one of the school’s top chess talents. He reached the position of second-highest ranked player just two years after first learning the game. Sibanyoni only discovered chess in Grade 9 through curiosity, later teaching himself by watching videos and studying the game in his free time.Sibanyoni has participated in school tournaments that span several days and has represented Greenside High in local chess leagues. One of his proudest moments came when he defeated a teacher he had long admired.

Eastern Cape author Dorothy de Kok has returned to Bedford after earning international recognition in Hollywood at the L. Ron Hubbard Achievement Awards. She was named winner in the long-running Writers of the Future competition, which includes an intensive workshop with established authors. Her short story *Thickly* is featured in the anthology *L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 42*.Dorothy described writing as something rooted in ordinary life in Bedford — a small Karoo town where, she said, stories are often found in everyday encounters rather than grand settings.

German YouTuber Tom Kopke set a new world record by solving a Rubik's Cube in just 23.333 seconds while skydiving over Mossel Bay. The impressive feat beat the previous record held by Sam Sieracki, who completed the challenge in 28.25 seconds in 2023.Kopke admitted he was concerned about dropping the cube during the jump. Kopke said the most dangerous part is actually the handover, kind of like in track and field where a lot of mistakes happen during the baton exchange.
