UJ and Good Work Foundation Launch Rural Education Partnership
The University of Johannesburg and the Good Work Foundation have launched a three-year research partnership aimed at improving education, well-being and employment opportunities for students in South Africa’s rural communities. The collaboration brings together UJ’s academic expertise and GWF’s on-the-ground experience to track student outcomes. UJ postgraduate students will gain valuable fieldwork experience at GWF campuses, while the non-profit will use research findings to strengthen its initiatives.

Guide-Dogs Association Hosts Family Fun Day to Support the Visually Impaired
The SA Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind will host its annual Family Fun Day next week Sunday, in Paulshof, Johannesburg. The event raises funds and awareness to support guide dogs and the services they provide for people with visual impairments. Families can watch assistance dogs demonstrate their skills, join blindfolded walks, attend arena activities, explore the Kids Zone, and take guided tours of the facilities.Guests can also participate in the Blind Navigator Challenge and enjoy live music.

The City of Cape Town is the winner of the global Bloomberg Mayor’s Challenge.The metro has secured a 15.8-million-rand prize for funding towards community co-designed waste management solutions in informal settlements.Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says Cape Town’s entry was for a project aiming to improve waste management solutions in partnership with informal settlement residents, to reduce illegal dumping, and achieve cleaner, healthier communities.
