Scotland’s Green Economy Overtakes Oil and Gas Jobs
Teaser / Tailpiece story
Scotland’s net-zero economy now supports around 105,000 jobs, nearly double the number employed in the country’s offshore oil and gas sector, according to new research by the Confederation of British Industry.
The sector contributes £10 billion to the Scottish economy, with small and medium-sized businesses making up 90% of the country’s clean technology companies.
Industry leaders say the findings highlight the growing role of renewable energy and clean technology in supporting economic growth, employment and energy security as Scotland continues its transition away from fossil fuels.
