The University of Johannesburg’s annual Steps 2 UJ Future Forward Fun Run saw more than 1 000 participants take to the streets of Auckland Park on May 30, raising funds to assist students with tuition fees.
Runners and walkers took on 2.5km, 5km and 10km routes, with students, staff, alumni and community members all joining in the event.
Dressed in bright orange shirts, participants turned the area around the Bunting Road campus into a display of community spirit and support for higher education.

The University of Cape Town has gained international recognition after Professor Liesl Zühlke was named the 2026 laureate for Africa and the Arab States in the UNESCO L’Oréal For Women in Science International Awards.
She was selected for her groundbreaking research into cardiovascular disease in children, with a focus on rheumatic heart disease affecting vulnerable communities.
