A new technology institute has opened in Marshalltown, Johannesburg, to train underserved youth for digital jobs and address South Africa’s skills gap.
The Maharishi NextUp Institute of Technology operates from a 10-storey campus at 56 Main Street in the Johannesburg CBD, donated by tech entrepreneurs David and Tracey Frankel.
The institute trains students in artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, cloud engineering, data science, and digital marketing, with programmes developed alongside industry partners to match job market needs.
MNIT forms part of the Maharishi's Education Town project, which links education, job training, and urban renewal initiatives across the Johannesburg inner city.
