Safe Sleeping Zone in District Six opens tomorrow

The Cape Town Central City Improvement District and The Haven Night Shelter will open a Safe Sleeping Zone in District Six on 2 June 2026 to provide overnight shelter for chronically homeless people in the CBD during winter.
The site will operate until September 2026 and will offer up to 60 beds each night.
Individuals will be referred through a controlled system and will receive beds, blankets, hot drinks, and meal tokens, with security and staff on duty overnight.
The initiative aims to ease pressure on existing shelters as demand for beds in Cape Town exceeds available capacity during winter.

Tyla, Future release FIFA World Cup song

South African singer Tyla has teamed up with rapper Future on Game Time, a song featured on the 2026 FIFA World Cup album.
The song joins the tournament's official music programme, which also includes contributions from LISA, Jelly Roll and Rema.
Tyla is also scheduled to perform at the World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles on June 11.
The release follows her recent wins for Best Afrobeats Artist and Social Song of the Year at the 2026 American Music Awards.
