Liberty campaign helps put school shoes on children's feet

Liberty Group South Africa is encouraging the public to walk for a good cause after launching a campaign to provide school shoes to children in need.
The initiative, held during Youth Month, invited people to complete one-kilometre walking routes at Sandton City Mall, with Liberty donating one pair of school shoes for every kilometre walked.
The company says it has already distributed more than 100,000 pairs of school shoes and hopes to reach even more disadvantaged learners, noting that millions of South African children still attend school without proper footwear.

Organisers say the gathering has grown over the years into a community festival that connects learners, parents, alumni and visitors through shared cultural celebration.

A motorcyclist from Brisbane has been reunited with the Good Samaritans who helped save his life after he was trapped beneath a 1 500 kilogram car during a collision.
Tyler Wiebe was on his way to work when the crash pushed a vehicle onto him, leaving him unable to breathe as he became pinned under the weight.
Nearby workers and bystanders rushed to the scene and worked together to lift the car just enough to free him, acting within moments as his condition deteriorated. Emergency services later transported him to hospital where he underwent surgery and began a slow recovery.
Weeks later, Wiebe met the group who pulled him to safety, expressing gratitude for their quick action and teamwork during the life threatening moment.
