More than 4 000 people attended De La Salle Holy Cross College in Victory Park, Johannesburg, for its annual Highland Gathering, a long standing tradition featuring pipe band competitions, Highland dancing and family entertainment.
The event brought together 22 pipe bands and 34 dance groups, with performances including a massed bands display featuring more than 300 musicians.
Organisers say the gathering has grown over the years into a community festival that connects learners, parents, alumni and visitors through shared cultural celebration.
The programme also included market stalls, food vendors and volunteer support from senior learners assisting across the venue.

The Presidential Youth Employment Intervention recorded more than 155,000 new earning opportunities in the fourth quarter of the 2025/26 financial year, taking the total to over 2.9 million since 2020.
The programme links young people to work through platforms such as SA Youth and government databases, while also supporting skills development, workplace experience and enterprise growth.
Officials say more than 5.9 million young people are registered on SA Youth, with most opportunities benefiting young women.
The latest figures also show continued growth in workplace placements and support for young entrepreneurs through government-led initiatives.

A radio communication network is being expanded across northern Pretoria to improve coordination between residents, neighbourhood watches, private security and emergency services during incidents.
The system allows users to share real time information across a wide area and operates independently of cellphone and internet networks, which can be affected during outages or high demand.
The initiative is run through AfriForum’s Noord van die Berg branch and is supported by local safety structures working together to improve response times during emergencies.
