New Trade Centres in Soweto Boost Artisan Training and Youth Empowerment
Story 1
Higher Education Minister Nobuhle Nkabane has hailed the new trade test centres at South West Gauteng TVET College’s Molapo Campus as a game changer for skills development and youth employment.
Speaking in Soweto on the final day of Youth Month, Nkabane said the workshops are part of government’s drive to reposition TVET colleges as engines of economic growth and dignity.
The R19 million upgrade will help boost artisan training, with the college already producing over 190 artisans since 2020.
With partnerships reaching as far as China and over R53 million in new funding, the campus is fast becoming a national model for industry-aligned vocational education.
