and Finally New UK-Ireland Literary Prize Shines Spotlight on Refugee and Migrant Voices
Story 3
A new literary prize has been launched to highlight the voices of refugee and migrant writers, offering a cash award and a publishing deal to the winner.
The Footnote x Counterpoints fiction award, open to writers living in the UK and Ireland, aims to recognise stories shaped by migration and elevate perspectives often overlooked in mainstream publishing.
Counterpoints Arts, which launched the initiative with Footnote Press, says the prize comes at an important time, noting the need to promote inclusive narratives amid rising xenophobia.
The award joins a growing list of initiatives supporting writers on the margins, including the Bridport Prize’s Never Too Late Award, which celebrates writers aged 60 and above.
