Little Eagle Grows Fast at Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden
Story 1
The skies above Roodepoort are alive with excitement as Juve 25, the newest black eagle chick at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, continues to grow rapidly. At 40 days old, the chick is already showing signs of developing its distinctive black feathers.
The Black Eagle Project team closely monitors Juve 25’s progress, despite the nest having been moved to a new location along the ridge that makes direct observation more difficult. Due to this move, the live streaming camera has been relocated as well.
Juve 25 is expected to take its first flight around mid-September. Visitors are welcome to visit the botanical garden on Tuesdays and weekends to learn more about these majestic birds and follow the chick’s journey.

Cape Town’s Historic Clock Rings Again
Story 2
After 15 years of silence, the iconic Cape Town City Hall clock is chiming through the CBD once more.
Originally installed in 1905, the clock was restored by horologist Rudi Conradi and his team from Clock Affairs in Brackenfell.
The intricate six-month restoration involved dismantling the entire mechanism, refurbishing worn parts, and restoring both the bell-strike and chime functions.
City project manager Marius Schoeman oversaw the process, ensuring the clock now runs smoothly and is manually wound several times a week.
The return of its familiar Westminster chimes has been welcomed as a proud moment for the Mother City, reconnecting residents with a piece of their shared heritage.
